Seems to be missing variables like IIf(), Switch(), Choose(), etc. that would allow much more flexibility.

Highly agreed. I've been needing something like this for creating semi-monthly date ranges like:

PreviousMonth/1/CurrentYear to PreviousMonth/15/CurrentYear

And

PreviousMonth/16/CurrentYear to PreviousMonth/EOM/CurrentYear
