I see lots of protocols for e-mail, but not MAPI. I realize it would likely be a huge undertaking, but what are the chances? We use Outlook/Exchange for e-mail here.

I was interested for e-mail notifications. However, I forgot that on special request we are able to get SMTP access for our server (the company as a whole uses Outlook/MAPI). So the need is not urgent, and it must not have a good benefit-to-development effort ratio, because no one really seems to do it.

I think so too. No one seems to use MAPI anymore.
