Hello,

Maybe somebody has faced the same problem ... I'm upgrading my VC installations to this version, and found that in several servers (W2003 and W2008) the installer simply doesn't start. First I thought that the reason was that the exe file was in a shared folder, and copied it to local server. But it's the same, it doesn't show any message but just don't start.
In W2003 I tried to run it from Add/Remove programs in Control Panel. Then I got the message that the server was running low in memory ... which it wasn't true.

Previous versions run fine, so it must be something with this one.

Any hint will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe an update has been performed to the server and it needs to reboot before. Try doing that and then try the installer again from a local folder.

Try the silent installer zip package and run the preinstaller.exe from that package.

Hi again,

Nothing worked. Nor the preinstaller, nor disabling the AV services. It has only worked this way, downloading the installer everytime from the faulty servers, during the VC startup updates checking process. That's the only way i got it to work in some servers. The weird thing is that in the same servers, the installer for previous version (7.6.3) worked correctly, as always.

Thanks anyway!

You mean that it works if you download and install through the updater?

Ok, then it some kind of permission issue. What we do is just to download same version from website to a local folder and then run it.

Hi,

I don't understand. Which permission issue do you mean? Former versions, ie. 7.6.3, is downloaded to the same network folder than 7.6.4. And run with the same admin domain user.
I tried to copy the installer downloaded via the updater to another server, and it didn't work either.
Anyway, I just updated all my servers. But I will take that into account if it happens again with future versions.

Thanks

It is a Windows permission issue or Windows application affecting this. But the exact permission issue or cause is unknown in your case unfortunately. We have not changed the installer so something has changed on your servers.
