The last couple of versions (8.3.0 and 8.3.1) require client and server to match version due to protocol changes. Since I can have only one version of the client installed on my PC, I have to use different PCs when connecting to my production and development VC servers. This is incredibly inconvenient.

If I was permitted to have multiple versions of the client installed (I understand it would be VERY difficult to have multiple versions of the server) I could open one to connect to my development server (when testing the latest version) and another to connect with production.

When I could connect to different version servers from the same client prior to 8.3.x this was not an issue. Now it is keeping me from being able to consider upgrading.
