Can you explain how to set the permissions for a normal user to see all the jobs and task details but should not be allowed to make any changes? The user is not able to view all the details when I remove the edit permissions, leaving just read and execute.

please instead describe the problem that you are having. Have you any problems just setting the Read permission on Job and Task object?

When I set read only permissions for the jobs and tasks object to a normal user, the user could not review all the details for jobs/tasks. I will soon confirm the details that are not available for viewing with read only permissions. Thanks

Unless I give edit permissions for the jobs, tasks, triggers, notifications, the user is unable to open the jobs, tasks, triggers to see the details. With just the read and execute permission, user can just login and see the list of jobs. But cannot open the jobs/tasks to view the settings/details . The user gets a message "You do not have permissions to perfrom this action. Contact your administrator"

If I give edit permissions, the user is able to view all the details but can edit the job/task which is not desirable for our requirments.

How do we just allow the user to view the jobs/tasks with all details without making any changes?

When looking at this closer we see that there is a very thin line between Read and Edit properties in the Client. It is more clear in the API and we need to do more exact checks in the Client to provide this functionality. Currently these permissions are not separated everywhere in the Client.

We will also look at permissions in general - if permissions should be added to Job level etc.

I am moving this topic to Feature requests and if you have more comments on changes in Security/Permissions then please post them here.

Hopefully we can fix Read permission on a single Task quite quickly but more time is needed for Read permissions on Job.
