Hi,

We use the 'Send Notification' on error within tasks a lot and it is very useful.
However there is no easy way to just say 'Send Notification and stop job' which often is what we want to do.
We would really appreciate if this could be added, maybe just another radio button next to Run Notification, Run Notification and Stop Job? Or separate the flow from the notification?

Thanks

What about calling the Job/Task control - stop job, and on complete of that job, you send a notification. Would that work?

Yes that does work but adds an extra task to each job and in some cases we want to do this for several tasks within a job so would end up with lots of extra tasks.

The flow already has both 'stop job' and 'send notification', just not both together

Hi,

You could add a on error stop job flow.
Uses Visualcron since 2006.

But then that applies to all tasks no? A task flow can be task specific

You have to add the flow on a task, not on a job. So you have two on error flows on a task, one is the notification, the other is the stop job.

OK but it still means creating 2 flows, arguably 'Send Notification' is not a flow as such, Stop Job is a flow, it would be nice to be able to send notification regardless

OK, so one can have multiple error flows on a task, then? Doesn't this open up to potential headaches if one has one error flow that stops the job, and another one that, say, continues with the next task?

But anyway, I'm glad to see one can do this, because I had the same question. I'm upgrading from 5.7.8 to 8.1.0, a pretty big jump, so there's a little bit of learning to do. You used to have the flow on the "On error" tab, separated from the Notification settings. To me, that actually made more sense.

Thanks,

Rebeccah

In task flow: instead of 'Run notification', you could check the 'Stop job and run specified job' instead, and let this be a job that runs a notification/sends an email. Would that work?

This is a good workaround although ideally we want to try and keep the number of jobs down.

I agree. Your original request makes the most sense. Hope they can add that. And if we could only pass parameters to jobs and notifications.... then life would be nice:)
