At some point in the 7.1.5 Beta, a popup box reminding about using Credentials started occurring, saying you should use one as the default 'local system' would not be able to if it's a network path. When I do a list files task, and click preview, it warns me. Then i press ok, and it warns me again.

What i'd like to see is a check to see that you're actually still running the service as 'Local System' before presenting warnings like this. After installing VC, we immediately change the service to run as a specific domain service account and will almost never run it as local system. Reminding someone using an alternate account that the local system account cannot do something is counter intuitive 🙂 They chose an alternate account and likely already know.

Actually we do check the username that runs the VisualCron service. And this message is not presented unless running as LocalSystem. Are you sure your service is not running as LocalSystem on this machine?

::Embarrassed::

Yes.... it's totally running as Local System when i tested this morning. Both of my quick test systems were not currently running as a service account. The problem, which i need to confirm when i get back in the office is...

I had the latest beta version (client/server) installed on my workstation in the office. I was connecting via the 7.1.5 client to a live/production 7.1.4 install of VC and was validating settings for some jobs i was updating. I was getting the prompt on my 7.1.5 client, even though the 'server' i was connecting to was 7.1.4 and definitely running as a domain account.

Is the client warning me because of the 'local' server and not the one i'm connecting to?

The warning is related to the server you are connecting to at the moment. If you are connected to several servers then it is the Server that you connect to that the Job/Task belong to.

Does the server only provide/check this information for the remote client if it's the 7.1.5 beta server? The reason I ask is, I was able to reproduce my concern again this morning now that i'm back in the office. Here's the scenario:

Server1 - VisualCron 7.1.4 - final.
Server1 - Service running as DOMAIN\ServiceAccount
Server1 - Job1 with "Copy Files" task that copies from one UNC path to another.

Client - VisualCron 7.1.5 (latest build) on my workstation.
Connection to Server1 only. Not connected to any other servers.
Edit the Server1/Job1/'Copy Files' task. When the 'TEST' button is pressed to validate what files it would copy, i get that warning stating the warning about using a credential due to 'Local System'.

Server version needs to be 7.1.5. or later. Otherwise we assume it is LocalSystem.
