I am getting errors from Visual Cron 5.1.6. Upgrading is not an option unfortunately.

The main error I am getting occurs when logging in to the system. VCtray has an error:

Exception ECExcetption in module VCTray.exe at 000213BD
Could not load file or assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=<<REMOVED BY POSTER>>' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

I have been able to uninstall and re-install VC to resolve most errors in the past, however this is not the case in this instance.

If I try either repair or remove and I get the following error:

Error 1001: Exception occurred while initializing the installation:
System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Configuration system failed to initialize.

I need to know either what is causing the error, or how to manually uninstall VC so that I may attempt to re-install and get this back up and running.

Thank you in advance for your help

Please try this to remove it first - then install again:

I cannot run the utility(http://neteject.com/download/VisualCron/InstallCleanup/InstallCleanup.application)

and step 2 references installutil.exe from here http://neteject.com/installutil.exe
which does not exist.

Is there a new location for the installutil?

Thank you

Running installutil.exe /u VisualCronService.exe

results in the following error at the command prompt:

Exception occurred while initializing the installation:
System.Configuration.ConfigurationErrorsException: Configuration system failed to initialize.

Any other options, or places to check what could be causing this error?

Try downloading the silent install in downloads section. Extract the files into the VisualCron folder. Then run the command again.

Do you mean the silent for version 6.0.3 from the Download tab above?

If not, is it possible to get a link?

Thank you so much for your help so far.

Yes, that one. It does not matter which version, just so that you extract any full installation in that folder.

Extracted to folder (6.0.3) I then copied the contents of folder 6.0.3 to c:\Program files\Visualcron\

I then ran the previous command
"installutil.exe /u VisualCronService.exe"

and received the same error as before.

Any further options and places to look would be greatly appreciated.

I was just able to restart the system, and same error as before happens when running "installutil.exe /u VisualCronService.exe" from the commandline.

Something have happened to your .NET installation. Here is a topic regarding this. You need to uninstall and install .NET in the order described:

Status Update / Final Fix

I was able to finally uninstall VisualCron (to do a reinstall) with the "installutil.exe /u VisualCronService.exe" after doing what was linked above (duplicated below for reference)

To resolve I did the following
1) Uninstalled .NET 3.5 SP1
2) Uninstalled .NET 2.0 SP2
3) Uninstalled .NET 2.0

note: Have to do it in that order (newest to oldest - since 3.5 is wrapper dependent on 2.0)

Then I installed
4) .NET 2.0
5) .NET 2.0 SP2
6) .NET 3.5 SP1

I then re-installed and everything was happy in the server room again..

Thank you very much for your assistance.
