hi,
I'm having problems moving files from a workgroup server with IP 192.168.11.*
to a domain with IP 192.168.10.*

I have tried all the different combinations of credential and it always tells me access denied in the output.

I've tried
administrator@WORKGROUP
administrator@ftpserver (which is the machine name)

both with the correct password and local machine box ticked off and then on.

Right now you cannot use double impersonation (two Credentials) in Copy files Task. In your case I guess a different Credential is required for the workgroup.

You need to check which Credential works by only connecting to one at a time and copy locally to that remote server.

One workaround, if your Server where you have VisualCron installed is installed on the domain. Then you can change the username that runs the VisualCron service to the domain account. Now you will have access to all remote domain computers. In the Copy files Task you only need to create a Credential for the workgroup computer.

No, Credentials are, in this case, part of the File filter in the Copy files Task.

In that case I am talking about Control panel->Administrative tools->Services->VisualCron->Properties

hi,
In the Log On tab of the services i changed it to Log on as:

This account domain\administrator

and restarted the service fine but when i start visual cron i get

Connection failed [localhost]: Failed to connect to an IPC Port

Please make sure it is still running. Also, attach the server_startup.txt file from the log folder here.

i changed the settings in Manage Servers from admin@localhost:IPC to administrator and it came back online!

:-) Hurrah!

Now i will see if i can get it working.

Still doesn't want to play ball.

I've tried

administrator@WORKGROUP

machinename\administrator@WORKGROUP

with local machine ticked on and then off

Always access denied or Exception in Task: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

Username should just be "administrator"
Machiname/computer name should be the computer name or ip - not the workgroup name.

I'm now using

username: administrator
Domain: computername

but still getting

Normally it is what is. A authentication failure. That either username or password is wrong. Remember that it is case sensitive.

Also, I suggest that you test one thing at a time. First, try the List files Task to get files from the remote computer. This validates the username and that you have access without complicating it further with Copy files Task.

Case sensitivity would only effect the password as the others are chosen from drop down lists and i have checked the password.

I will break it down and test it as you suggest.

Just remember that the drop down list is based on the local computer not your remote computer. So you need to validate that the user exists on the remote machine.

I have tested

and i can now run jobs across the visual cron installed network without credentials 🙂

hmmm. The test within the problem location now works for some reason.

So now i will try the cross network move again..

So i have now tested moving files within the visual cron installed network without credentials. PASSED
Moving files within the other network workgroup. PASSED.


Retried cross network file move (using same credential as above).

Exception in Task: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

Exception in Task: No file(s) copied


I dont understand.
