I am trying to set up a a job that will copy a file from my ftp folder to my application server. I am using a file trigger to see if a file shows up on the ftp server and then executing the copy. For some reason when I set up the task (I don't even run it), it gives me the following error

File event trigger could not be added, error; the directory name <ftp directory name> is invalid.

Does anyone know what this problem is?

Is this a folder on a remote drive/computer? Then you need a Credential to access that Folder.

Ok, I set it up with credentials that has access to the ftp. But when I copy a file to the ftp folder the trigger will not kick off. If I run the job it will move the file for me. The move task can see the file on the ftp, but the trigger cannot.

If you still get the error then the Trigger is not activated - and no automatic Triggering->Copy will occur. Are your Trigger active in the Triggers window? Do you still get the error when editing the Job?

The Trigger shows active. When I bring up the Trigger the Active checkbox is checked. I don't get the error when I edit the job anymore

Are you copying with Copy or Cut? Because moving manually may not Trigger it. If you are copying with Copy/Paste and it still does not work the Trigger is probably set up wrong.

We could look at it if you installed Yuuguu and add user support@visualcron.com

I am copying with copy. I don't think my Infrastructure team would let me install a remote desktop software on our App server. Is there anything else I can check. Can I take screen prints and send them to you?

You can install the app on your machine and then RDP or similar to that machine.

You can send the following screenshots to support@visualcron.com:

* file trigger settings
* your ftp folder
* sample file copied to ftp folder

By the way - is it a Samba mount?

I think it is Samba mount and I tried the Samba option and that still didn't work.

I will try the Yuuguu option

If it is Samba you must use Samba and Samba mode is not instant because it uses polling. Normally you have to wait 60 seconds if you don't set other option.

Henrik,
It is 8:50am here and I have a meeting at 9:30am for 1 hour. Can we get together after that to see if we can get this wrapped up?

Just another note. I tried changing the trigger path to a local folder on the app server and it still would not trigger. I then changed the task to move the file from the local folder and that is still working, but the trigger is not.
