Hi support - Every so often we experience problems with the client when its remote from the VC server. Best shown by the two screenshots one has a completely empty screen that shows no groups or jobs and the other taken on the server where the VC process is installed shows the fully populated set of groups / jobs. These were taken at the same time using the the same login details etc. The remote copy had been fine, I started some jobs running closed VC and when I started it up again the client was empty. Logged on to the server and everything is fine with the jobs executing. The usual way to fix this is to wait for a quiet period and restart the VC service which usually fixes the problem. It does occasionally go away by itself.

1. Is Client and Server of same version?
2. does it matter if you turn on or off compression in the Server Connection?
3. do you see any errors in the realtime log or in Server log when this happens?

Hi support in answer to the questions

Both versions are the same

Compression is currently on - (turned off now to see if any impact)

Nothing apparent in the logs that I can see

Problem is now I have come back and opened VC this morning, everything is back to normal and the problem currently does not exist. This has been the behaviour before when this has happened. The other way I mentioned is to stop and start the VC service. I have turned compression off now to see if that makes a difference, but it is not possible that I know off to repeatably trigger this issue. So I will update again when we see the problem.

Thanks Brett.

If this happens again then please mail support@visualcron.com and we will setup a screen sharing session. We are interested in using the API to test what is happening in the background.

We had a re-occurrence of the problem and found that turning compression off and restarting the client cleared the problem. I am afraid that the company policy prevents any screen sharing to be done.

Just an update to this issue - that we are currently seeing again - changing compression settings is having no effect this time - we now have more than the one VC server connected to the client to compare results with. The issue is only present in the one server , so connecting to either of the other servers from the remote desktop client causes no issue but the original server just shows a blank page on the client remote - but is fine on a local client when logged in to the server.

Hi Support - Sorry but this is becoming a real pain now - for the one server I can not get anything but an empty screen - tried re-starting services, re-booting server - nothing now allows the client to see the jobs. Same client works fine on the other servers. This exists for all users who. Only works when logged directly in to the server.
