Our company has started to implement a hosted smtp solution for our corporate email. I added a new smtp connection with user id and password...when i run the email task, i get the exception say "No such host exists"..does visual cron handle external smtp differently.

Answered own question...had to use ip address instead of server name.

Was this because it was external smtp and you tried to use it via the actual servers name (not publicly in dns) vs the dns name of 'mail.whatever.com' or whatever other dns name you had for smtp?

Just curious. Glad you got it sorted out.
