Trying to configure an SMTP connection using port 465 and SSL and I get this:

Exception in Task: Connection timeout (error code is 73730)

Can't find any SMTP reference to error code 73730. Is this a VisualCron error?

The number refers to an internal number in our component.

I guess the problem might be related to dns resolution. Have you tried the IP insted? If yes, can you telnet to that ip on port 465?

I've tried IP and it still fails. This is an SSL connection on port 465. These exact settings work fine in Outlook.

Can you telnet from the VisualCron machine to the ip and that port?

Can you give more details on the 73730 error? I had some email tasks working under 7.0.8 but they are now failing under the 7.0.9 beta with this error. I have used both hostname and IP addr (anonymous login to port 25) but neither works. I have a second VC server that's on 6.0.6 and it's having no problems targeting the same smtp server via hostname.

This bug is mentioned in the release notes. Hopefully we will provide a fix soon for this but the beta has this error right now.

I missed this prior to my upgrade (guess that's what I get for jumping on a beta). Once I do all my clone tasks under 7.0.9, is it possible to drop back to 7.0.8 to restore Email functionality? Barring that, is there any ETA on an email task fix (or a workaround)?

Please download the latest beta. It should fix the issue.

Just downloaded 7.1.0. Email operation working again (using hostname).
