It appears that the "Run VisualCron Job" task starts the job and then continues to the next task.

Is there a way to start the job and wait for it to finish?

Ok, I'm guessing this would be considered a new feature... Should we move this to the feature request forum?

Basically - create a task that executes a job and does not continue to the next task until the job execution has finished.
