Hi,

Let me tell you a story 😒 :

I have a client on the phone and he is mad. He is missing PDF files (hypothetically).
So I want to see the output of this task which is handling my PDF stuff in Visualcron.
I'm not sure of the task or job name. I have so much items here, so I use the search feature.
I find my task by use the keyword PDF and the task is called: handle PDF's.
So now I have to close the search window and look in the main GUI and expand every job to see if my task is in there.
I have found my task after a few minutes and I can give my client the info he needed.

During this search i I have to speak to my client telling him all kind of rubbish stories, due to the fact I can't find the task that easily.

👍 So wouldn't it be nice to have a meganism in the search results to jump directly to the right task/job in the main GUI? I know you can find more objects, but for jobs and tasks this would be a good improvement.

Regards,
Erik

What do you want to do when you find it?

You can always use the Object search and then double click on the row and the Job or Task will be opened.

That's true,

But I want to see the job/task in the main GUI. To see the all the other information which is not shown when you open the job/task.
This could be the last run time, the result of the job/task, etc.

So, maybe you are just looking for a more "deeper" search than the current one in List tab. Not a search on column items only but all items, and then filter the grid on the "deep" search.

No,
The search is working fine for this issue. I can find the task/job I needed. It's just after finding this job/task you can not access the job/task in the main GUI.

One other approach to handle this to have a search field in the main GUI somwhere in a taskbar where you can type in a name to find your job/task.

Erik

I am not sure what you mean. Perhaps we are talking about same thing.

Right, it located in another window. So, my suggestion was that the same kind of "deep" search was being done in the main window - or are you thinking of anything special.

Hi,

If the search is done in the main window and the job/task is selected after the search, than I'm a happy man. 😁

So, you want to keep the same search in main window but just select the first item found?

Yes, and maybe a next previous button?

but.....

For my point of view the current search if fine. Just having a context menu on the search result having the ability to jump to the job/task is enough (highlight the job/task in main GUI). This action should close the object search window.

I prefer the context menu though. 😊
