6.0.6 on Win2k8, 32-bit Oracle client, trying to trouble shoot our Oracle connectivity issues on a test server.

We're trying to set the service to run in 32-bit mode by using the bit setter. It runs normally, we select the service executable, it appears to restart the service and comes back and says done, but Task Manager does not show *32 by the service.

We can run it against the client and when we fire up the console it does show *32.

As one other user solved this was to leave it as 64 bit but use the Oracle->Oracle connection instead of Odbc.

Do Visual Cron's built-in drivers support Wallet and Oracle HA/clustering?

I thought this was a regular SQL Task.

If it does not show *32 then probably the service was running (or file was locked) while you ran the bit-setter tool.

We've never had issues running the bit setter tool w/ older versions of VC while the service was running but we are happy to oblige.

Stopped the service, ran the tool, restarted, the service still does not show *32.

Try choosing the other option "I want to select the application myself". It seems to be a bug in this tool.

That did the trick, thanks. Stopped VC service, ran the tool and manually selected service executable, done, started service. It's now showing *32 in Task Manager.

This is VC version 6.0.6 and the bit setter we have is dated 06/14/2011 though I don't recall if that's from when we downloaded/unzipped it.

This is a test machine for working out Oracle connectivity issues introduced some time after v5.7.8; we'll install 6.0.8 and see if the bit setter continues to have similar issues.

We will fix the BitSetter soon. Btw, if you get errors in the log about "logging" it is because it tries to find dll files depending on system. If you have, for example set to x86 you need to copy the files from x86/sqlce folder to root folder (stop service first).
