After the upgrade to 6.1.4 I no longer have the logs from prior processing.
After the upgrade, I need to go into services and change the user name for the service.

This would be because the upgrade uninstalls the current version and then installs the new version.

Is there any way you could save the logging and keep it available?
Why not just stop the service and copy the new files then restart the service?

Hi,

actually we do not remove any logging. I am thinking that you might have installed in on a different drive or something like that because we do not remove logging? For your information that actual log files is located in a database file. You can see where by opening Server settings->Folders->Log folder

About username of service, yes, we do an uninstall first. We might change the install process for a later version.

I completely agree this needs to change. It appears to back up the existing config and uninstall the previous version before ever asking you anything. I've never tried to cancel at this point to know what it does, but thats seemingly a bad order of things :)

Ideally it'd like any other install. Ask some questions first before ever uninstalling anything. And obviously, the Service Account we have the VC service running under would be nice if it stayed around. Not critical, but annoying to have to immediately stop the VC service after an upgrade so no jobs try to run as the local System account... as they'll likely fail, to hurry and change the account and fire it back up (in production).

Agree. We have some plans for future version (where we will update the whole setup process). This will include keeping Windows service user.

I am moving this topic to Feature requests.

Should have been fixed for version 7.0.0.
