we had to downgrade from 6.1.5 to 5.1.4 due to an licensing issue.

before the downgrade, we exported the settings to a zip file.

can we import the setting from 6.1.5 to 5.1.4?

we attempted to do the import but it seems that it did not work. the screen where the jobs would normally reside is blank.

please help!

Thanks,
Nelson.

You cannot downgrade settings from 6.1.5. When doing a backup we copy existing settings to a temp folder. You can try to find that folder. You do this by starting the installation of 6.1.5 again. Then there is a link in that window to backup location. Click on that and go back one level until you find the previous installation date.

Now, stop exit installation, stop the 5.1.4 service and overwrite the files in temp folder to VisualCron installation folder->settings.

Start the service again.

By the way, is there anything we can help you with the licensing issue. 5.1.4 is really old now.

we are using an active license from version 5.1.1. we deactivated that license from one of our test servers and moved it to the exisiting server where i am having the issue right now with the import settings. that version is 5.1.4.

I am not sure. Is there a way to find what we have?

ok i re-installed 6.1.5, imported the settings, now i'm back to where I was.

I checked the C:\Program Files (x86)\VisualCron\tmp and it is blank.

The C:\Program Files (x86)\VisualCron\settings directory has some XML files. Is this the backup you were talking about?

Can I take these same files and overwrite them from the 5.1.4 version to get all the setting from 6.1.5?

i copied the settings folder from 6.1.5, uninstalled it, installed 5.1.4, stopped visual con service, renamed the settings folder from the 5.1.4 installation, copied the settings folder from 6.1.5, started visual cron service, launched the application... no jobs visiable. 😞

No, not that temp folder. It is a very specific folder. That is why you need to start the intallation again to get access to that folder. (it was never built for doing it this way but it should work).

Yes, you should be able to go to My pages->My licenses to see status of licenses.

Well I followed your instructions, only 2 jobs imported from the long list of jobs i originally had from 6.1.5. How do I get all the jobs imported?

It is not that directory. It is no existing directory there. It is a very specific created directory that you only can access from installation view. You need to start installation and click on the link in the installation window.

Also, the reason I cannot say the directory name here is because it is specific to your user, computer OS and some other specific values.
