Is there any way to pass or retrieve variables from a job executed on a remote VC server? I want to control jobs on other VC servers from a "master" server, but in order to accomplish what I need, I have to be able to pass at least one string variable to the job on the remote server when it's executed.

I do see that I can "inherit the exit code" and/or return output from the remote job, so that may be the answer of how to get data back, but I'm not clear on how to make use of this information in subsequent steps. Can you explain or provide an example?

But there still doesn't appear to be a way to get data to the remote job.

What kind of Task is it? I think the best way is to have the Task output data which your local Task inherits.

Several different ones. But I'm really more concerned about passing parameters into a remote job than getting them back. How is that done?

It is not possible to pass a value right now other than in some way "physically" do it like placing a file at the remote instance or similar. We have talked before about having a value that you can pass to a Job and that is something we are going to add for future version where we work on master/slave relationship.

That is really unfortunate. It turns a very clean and elegant solution into a Frankenstein. I'll have to find another approach (unless passing just one string value to the remote job is something that could be done within several days? I don't expect you do to that, but if it's possible, I'd love to be able to use VC for this project).

Nothing is impossible. Please contact sales@visualcron.com for and maybe we can find a way to prioritize this.
