Hi all,

Currently I am having an issue with Event Trigger Functionality in Visual Cron?

I have created a batch with event trigger which objective to run after the creation of a specific file in a folder.

I performed the testing by manually drop the the specific file into the folder, and it works.

However, very strange that everyday after I receive that particular file in the folder, nothing happens. The batch does not get triggered.

Could you please give us suggestion on this urgent issue?

Appreciate if you can reply asap.

Best regards,

Is the Trigger still Active?

When you manually copy the file to that folder (several days after it has "not worked") does it work then when doing this manually?

Hi Henrik,

Thanks so much for your reply.
Yes, the trigger is still active.
Yes, just tried it again to copy the file manually into the folder. The trigger could run after I did so.

But the actual file which arrived this morning did not trigger the batch job.

I can think of a number of reasons. Either the "filter" is not matching or the file is not Created but Moved. Try checking the "Changed" event instead of Created.

Hi Henrik,

I have tried the suggested solutions:
1.The filter looks matching (folder name and path name), as it works when copying the file manually
2.Checked on “Changed” instead of “Created” for the file generation type

However, the event trigger is still not working.

Thanks a lot for your help.

What if you use * as file filter - does it trigger then?

Hi Henrik,

If I use * as the file filter, will the batch able to detect the specific file that I am looking for?

This is just a test if it works at all or the problem is in the filter (perhaps a rename occurs in the background).

Hi Henrik,

We have performed multiple kinds of testing, and finally the issue is solved now. Yay!.

It turns out that we need to use the setup "Use polling (Samba Compatible)" instead of "Trigger when file has been released".

We also put the watch type: "Created" , and notify filters: "Filename"

Thanks a lost for your continuous support Henrik.
Wishing you a pleasant week ahead.

Great - that can be needed on non-Windows shares. Have a nice weekend you too!
