I keep getting "The storage controlblock is invalid" errors with a Execute task. I also can not get the Job Logs to show anything.

Hard to say - it depends on what the Task do. My first guess is a permission error - are you using a Credential?

I have tried with and without credentials. I will work with it more.

The task just fires off rar.exe with

COMMAND:

"C:\Program Files\WinRAR\rar.exe"

ARGUMENTS:

a -r -agYYYYMMDDHHMMSS -rr -m5 %varPath%\%COMPUTERNAME%_.rar @c:\TEMP\bkuplist.txt

Can we do a dialog box? Is there a good way to test variables?

Could it be this? The %COMPUTERNAME% is actually a windows variable... I hope VC is not trying to find a way to populate it.

Try using the File Write task to see which Variables are available or not.
