Hi

I have just downloaded the new version 7.0.7 of the software and have immediately made use of some of the new features within the 'Delete folder(s)' task. I have created a task to delete any folders that are older than 5 days and are subfolders within a specified directory. When I run the Test to 'Show filtered folders' the result is a list of 7 folders that I would expect to be deleted when the task is run. However, running the task results in the following error:

Exception in Task: Error 0 deleting folder 'C:\Program Files (x86)\VisualCron\backup\04_11_2013 12_45': The operation completed successfully.

The result is that the folders in question are NOT deleted. It seems strange to me that the task should error when the test shows 7 folders being filtered, and also the exception message is somewhat contradictory given that the last part of the message indicates that the operation completed successfully.

Does anyone have an explanation?

1. Is the folder mentioned in the list of the 7 folders?
2. Can you delete this folder manually?

Yes, the folder mentioned is in the list of 7 folders. Yes, the folder can be deleted manually.

Ok, that "error" message is from windows. Do you get the same error message if you try on any other folder?

It seems to be an issue specifically with the fact that there are files contained within the folders that are currently in the directory. At present, these folders contain the VC-Settings.zip files, where the directory is named using {DATEFORMAT(dd_MM_yyyy HH_mm)}. To test, I removed the VC-Settings.zip file from one of the folders so that it was empty. I then ran the task and the folder was deleted. Next, I removed the VC-Settings.zip files from another folder and added a blank .txt file to see if the issue was specifically with the VC-Settings.zip files. However, when I ran the task the error message showed again and the folder was not deleted.

Is there a setting to only delete folders that are empty? Or can you specify to delete regardless of the folders content?

I am having a similar problem. I've got three jobs with mail triggers. All three have a task to move attachments from incoming emails, then a task to delete the folder created by the mail trigger.

These worked until I upgraded from 6.5 (I think) to 7.0.7. I saw today that the folder delete task was erroring out, and discovered that the Base folder path had been erased out of the task configuration. I put the proper base folder back in,

E:\temp\VC-Docs\{TRIGGER(Active|LastTrigger|Mail.Result.Mail.MessageId)}

and tried again. Now I get an error like the one windmanager describes. If I show the filtered folders, I get, for example,

E:\temp\VC-Docs\1875
E:\temp\VC-Docs\1875\attachments

just like I would expect, but the folders do not actually get deleted. I can delete them manually with no errors.

Based on what windmanager said earlier, I added a task to remove the Attachments subfolder first, before the task that removes the MessageID folder. That works, but I would rather continue to have the one task delete the subfolders as well as the base folder.

I have tested the new release and can confirm that the task now behaves in the way I would have expected. The folders are deleted regardless of whether they have content or not.

Many thanks 😄

I can confirm that it's working for me as well. Installed 7.0.8 and it solved the issue.
