Hello:

I am trying to connect to an SFTP server. I created a key pair using PuttyGen. It is an SSH-2 RSA key at 2048 bits.

I configured the connection and pointed to the .ppk file, but any connection attempt generates the following error:

Private key could not be loaded, error: 3331

I can use the same private key using Filezilla on the same computer where VisualCron is running, so I know they key file is fine and the connection can be made.

Any idea what could be causing the key file to not load? Are there restrictions on the parameters of the key, such as number of bits?

Thanks,
Chris

I think the format needs to be of base64 type (readable). Also, you may have stored it on a location that VisualCron cannot access.

The key is definitely in text format. I can easily read it with notepad and I confirmed that the location is accessible (I have it the same place I have other files that VisualCron accesses). I've tried generating new keys with passwords, without passwords, 1024 bit, 2048 bits, OpenSSH format, Putty (.ppk) format, but nothing works. I always get the same error.

Any suggestions? If need be, I could create a new private and public key pair and send them to support. This should be safe since I would only be using them to test the setup.

Thanks,
Chris

Henrik,
Interested to know the solution to this issue. I am having the same exact problem. My keys work when using IPSWITCH WSFTP PRO. However, now trying to automate and am getting the error "Private key could not be loaded, error: 3331". I created the SSH Key pair using pUTTY.

As always,
Thanks for your help.

If your key is in base64 format (readable) and still does not work then please send it to us along with all details so we can test it here.

Solved the problem by deleting the connection and created a new one on the server where VisuaCron is running instead of creating the connection from a client. Don't know if that was the solution but at least it's working as it should now. See also http://www.visualcron.co...mp;find=unread#post13116
