When trying to connect to one of our VC servers, it is telling me that the username is not found and the connected users list shows username being blank.
I have my login in the list and only allow local users is unchecked.

1. are you using same version on client and server?
2. is compression checked? What happens if you uncheck it?
3. is local connection working?

We are using 7.1.0 Client and server.

We've tried all manners of connecting with the same result. All end in the same result.

We've tried:

  • AD Login, Compression Checked, Prompt Login not checked. Valid user, valid password.
  • AD Login, Compression Checked, Prompt Login not checked. Valid user, invalid password.

If we launch visual cron client on the server it's working. The remote client is on the same section of network as the server. There are no firewalls on the host or on network in-between.

Please check the log of the server:

1. connect locally with client
2. open log window
3. connect remote client
4. any interesting errors in log?

We are connected local, no problem.

The log just says New client connected.

The connected users says username not found.

I found this is the event viewer of the server.

A fatal error occurred when attempting to access the SSL server credential private key. The error code returned from the cryptographic module is 0x8009030d. The internal error state is 10001

Yes, this error is definitely related. Could you try the following:

1. stop the visualcron service
2. start the visualcronservice.exe manually from folder by double clicking, wait 30 seconds
3. try to connect with remote client
4. if this works, close the VisualCronservice.exe
5. start the service
6. try to connect again

I get the same result as before.
I stopped the service, waited, and started using the exe.

Our tech department sys prepped this VM system that is not working.
We tried another without the older version of VC installed and it did work.

Is there a way to force the re-registering of your software on a system?

It looks like this might be tied to whatever happens during the registration..

Not sure what you mean with "force re-registering" but if you re-install it the certificates will be installed again.

I'm having a similar issue in 7.1.8, not necessarily with a blank username, but failure to connect remotely, and the SSL error posting to the event viewer. The remote client returns the failure of:

Connection failed [Address]

Connection failed to 'Address'. Connection failed with error:

'Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.'

Do you want to try reconnecting?

Yes No

I tried to uninstall/re-install, but it seemed to hold onto much of the old information, such as job and licenses. Upon retesting, it continued to fail. Has anyone seen any resolution to these failures?

This sounds like a firewall between. Have you tried:

telnet remoteserveriporname 16444

Henrik,

There is no firewall between the machines. We found an issue with the certificates in which we needed to delete all the certificates and reinstall the application. This resolved the issue. This machine was a replicated VM so the certificates were left from the prior build.

I know there was a separate thread on the removal of certificates - I will send follow-up there (http://www.visualcron.com/forum.aspx?g=posts&t=3843#post17462)
