Hi Hernik

We have a number of large jobs with many tasks - many of which are calling other VC jobs. It would be very helpful if it were possible to place breakpoints on a particular task within a job to stop the job running to completion. Particularly useful for debugging.....

Cheers

Unless i'm mistaken, the easiest way I can think to do this is on the task itself (as long as you're using VC version 7.x). Edit the task, go to the 'Flow' tab and set the task (last one you want to run) to 'On Complete - Always - Stop Job'. no other tasks will run and the job will quit. When ready to move past it, Just remove that flow item and away you go.

Hi Brian

Okay, i honestly hadn't considered using the 'Flow' feature to manage breakpoints so thanks for the suggestion, it is a very good option to consider. My only concern is that there is no visual indication that the task has been stopped should someone forget to change it back again. i was thinking more along the lines of allowing a breakpoint to be set from a tasks context menu and perhaps highlighting the selection with a 'Stop' icon or with a colour?

I have taken some notes about this. I clearly see the advantage. This type of change requires a lot of work because of two reasons:

- requires update of realtime communication between server and client
- breaks a lot of existing functionality

Good thing is that we are never afraid to break things and rebuild again. 😎 Thanks for the request.

hi,
i have the same problems and following Idea:
at the moment it seems, that when reaching a disabled task the next task will be called.
Perhaps it is a solution to have a combo box an Job level, to tell him, what the system should do, when reaching a diabled task.
Just like : Stop the job when reaching a disabled task. yes / No

this has the advantage, that i can see the break in the flow by the red cross in the main view.
Whats your opinion ?

regards
axel
