Hi,

I recently upgraded my client install from version6 to version7.0.4 and I am now unable to see any jobs when connecting to our VisualCron server. I am, however, still able to see the jobs when I use VisualCron on the server (locally).

Thanks.

Try unchecking "Use compression" on the connection.

Hi Henrik,

I have checked and unchecked that button with the same result - no jobs.

Thanks

Are you sure you are not connecting locally from that remote machine?

Hi,

As you updated the client, did you also update the server to 7.0.4?
They should be the same version.

Regards,
Erik
Uses Visualcron since 2006.

I am connecting in exactly the same way I did using VisualCron 6. I have a local workstation with the client version (7.0.4) installed, connecting to a server with the server version installed (7.0.4). I can confirm this, as when i go to the about tab (on both the local and server installs) and click on "About VisualCron", I get the same version information on on both.

The load progress bar (bottom right) appears to get to 100%, so it thinks it has loaded the jobs. I can also see all the variables and connections, so it is just the jobs that are missing.

Ok,

Are you using the grid filter, filtering out all jobs?

Uses Visualcron since 2006.

No, grid filter is clear.

Try to restart the VisualCron service - then reconnect again.

Apologies for the delay. It is a live production machine so i had to wait for several jobs to finish. Stopped and started the service - no joy. Then rebooted the server - still no joy.

Turn on extended debugging. Reconnect. Any errors in the general log?

No obvious errors in the log.

Henrik,

Could it somehow be using some previous settings from VisualCron 6?

Have you tried removing that server from your client's connection list and re-adding it? also, do you have another workstation/server/etc.. that you could install the 7.0.4 client on and validate that it works from ANY other remote client and not just locally on the Server itself?

Really though, does sound like a grid filter thing... (even if it appears to be clear)

Please understand i'm not trying to be sarcastic, but JUST becuase it hasn't been suggested... next to the server/username below , you do have the + sign expanded so it shows the jobs below it, right? :)

Once you get logged into VC client on your workstation, and the progress bar in the bottom right goes to 100%/completion, can you click the List tab and then the Grid Filter button, even if nothing is set... still click the 'Clear Filter' button on the right, and then post a screenshot of your client at that point?

One last question, and this technically has nothing to do with your issue although many bugs have been fixed since early on with 7.x - is 7.0.4 the latest version you have available to you due to maintenance contract or are you able to upgrade to 7.1.4?

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your post.

I don't currently have another machine I can install the Client on. but I have asked the infrastructure team to create me a VM, so that I can have a play.

There is no + symbol next to the server name (please see attached screenshot).

I have cleared the grid filter as per your previous post and taken a screenshot (again, attached).

We can upgrade to 7.1.4, but it would mean a delay of around two weeks for my users, as we put any new releases in to our test environment before promoting them to production. Might well be the best option if installing the client on the VM doesn't work!

Thanks,
John

It would be interesting to know if you only have problem with this client or if it works on other machine. Basically, you can install the Client on any computer and test to connect remotely.

Further to my previous post(and not sure if it helps), I tested creating a new job on the blank client yesterday. The new job did then appear on both the client and the server (logged on as localhost).

Just installed client 7.0.4 on a VM - still no joy.

I will install 7.1.4 in the coming weeks and let you know how I get on.

We found one way to reproduce this and that is if your Tasks have output or result that cannot be properly deserialized in the XML communication. We have done a fix for this in 7.1.5:
