Which is the recommended method for implementing a file watcher across the network. I created a "regular" file watcher for a network share and every now and then it seems to fire repeatedly.

What is the best practice for doing this over the network?

Yes, use a regular File Trigger. But probably you have not just checked "Created" or the filemask is too wide.
