Good morning,

Some of my jobs started throwing out this error (see subject) today, and I did not make any changes to them for weeks. All of my settings are using UNC paths. There is no error messgage in STDOUT, and the job just shows a red ! mark indicated that it failed.

I am using version 4.9.49 (planning to upgrade to 5x at some point soon).

I am hoping you can point me in the right direction to troubleshoot this. Thanks in advance. :)

Regards,
Alan.

It depends what kind of Task. But if it is a FTP Task or maybe you have set the Tasks to Foreground Execution the reason is that you have deleted a Credential or Connection that are in use.

In version 5.3.1. you will get a warning if you try to delete an object that are in use.

You have to find the Task through the log window and then open that Task and reselect or enter a new Connection/Credential.

It is not an FTP task. Also, all my jobs run on the Foreground.
The job does not use any Connection/Credential -- it just goes to the network to run an Excel spreadsheet with no external links.

The task itself is an Execute task. I can't think of anything else to try and troubleshoot this.

What's even weirder is -- a reboot fixed the problem, which is annoying b/c now I can't reproduce it and it's going to happen again at the worst possible moment. God bless Mr. Murphy. :(

My only guess is that some backup settings were read when restarting.

I think I know what the problem was. You have closed the VisualCron Tray Client. Then you can't use the Foreground Task. Also, if the problem appeared when no one is logged in you need to set a Credential so that VisualCron can login for you and execute the Task in Foreground mode.
