Hi,
I was trying to create a visual cron job which has an email trigger watching a specific email id in our network. I tried using the POP3 and IMAP4 as my connection in the email tabs. Try to run the job, the job gets inactivated by itself by displaying the following message.
"A trigger was inactivated due to an error: Error in Mail Server(2), ex: No such host is known The trigger was connected to the job: MobileAlert - Email Processing"

Please let me know if any more info is needed.

As the error describes there is a DNS problem. Have you really specified the hostname to the SMTP server right? Have you tried the IP? You specify this in the Connection for the Task.

Thanks.giving an IP worked but its not able to login. below is the error i am getting while i activate the trigger
"A trigger was inactivated due to an error: Error in mail trigger(1), ex: - ERR Logon failure: unknown user name and password. The trigger was connected to the job: MobileAlert-ProcessingEmails"

When i create the POP3 connection, i tried to give proper user name and password, but it doesnot connect.
Secondly, the job/trigger fires twice even though there is single trigger assigned to the job and has no other task to it.

How do you mean it triggers when you can't connect?

Perhaps you need the full email as username.

Does your Exhange really support direct connection with IMAP protocol?

Are you able to telnet to port 143 on the exchange server? If not, it is either a firewall or limitation in Exchange settings.

Thanks for your quick responses. I was able to fix all the above issues i was having by properly arranging the POP3 connections.

My email trigger works just fine, but with one problem.
If i leave open the visual cron UI open the email trigger job is set to active continuously (for days long) but in case i remain the service run and the UI close sometimes the job sets to inactive automatically even though i havnt set any of the expired values. So i have to manually, right click and set the job to activate everytime and then.

The same settings are given to a different job but with file trigger and it works really fine. the job is active for all the time for File trigger.

How do i avoid the job to not to go to inactive (even it fails once in a while or not fail at all)

Please help.

I don't think it has anything todo with the UI. The main problem is that we do not do any reconnects upon failure. If you turn on "extended debugging" (Server settings->log) you will probably see what is happening. We will probably add some reconnect handling soon.

I guess the extended debugging helped a lot. And the mail is been triggering properly.
i still have 2 more questions to be addressed.
1. In case the trigger is functioning properly and somehow i dtop the visual cron service for a while and by that time i get a couple of emails in my monitored inbox. In this case when i start the visual cron job and activate the trigger it does not act on the emails that were come during the lag period.

2. When i deploy the settings, jobs, connections, tasks, etc by exporting and then importing to another machine. i am getting the below error everytime the trigger fires.
"The trigger was inactivated due the error. Error in Mail Trigger : A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after aperiod of time, or established connection failed because connected host of failed to respond <IP:110> The trigger was connection to the Job: <JOB NAME>

thanks a lot.

In the latest beta we have reconnect handling - you should try that one.
