When configuring a SFTP connection and using private/public key options a file path is referenced for the file location of the key

Does Visual Cron store a copy of the key within its internal database, or only on the OS file system.

We are looking to have more a warm failover system in place, and had been planning to do a configuration back up and restore between 2 instances, but if the key is stored only on file system then we would need to create an additional process to secure and transfer these items

Any help appreciated

First time the key is used it is loaded and stored (encrypted) in the Connection object. If we have it stored we use that internal storage - otherwise we try to load from file again.

Thank you, would you be able to confirm the following:

The keyfile would need to be available on disk until the first time the connection is used?

Is the internal storage of the key cleared on restart/reboot?

Is the internal storage of the key cleared upon upgrade of the VC server?

It needs to be available until you have connected the first time with either Task or Connection Explorer.

The internal storage is not cleared after reboot or on upgrade - the information is kept.

Support,

i think one piece missing from the list of questions/answers here is in regards to the restoration side of it. If the OP has used the SFTP connection on Server A, backs up the config, and then restores it on Server B, does the key file need to exist as it's the first time Server B has used the connection? or because it's a restoration of Server A, it already has it and Server B is fine?

Just looking for clarification.

No, we will try to use the key from the internal settings of the Connection first.
