OCR - Optical Character Recognition

Document scanning, with OCR - Optical Character Recognition - has been around for a while. Optical character recognition or optical character reader (OCR) is the electronic or mechanical conversion of images of typed, handwritten or printed text into machine-encoded text, whether from a scanned document, a photo of a document, a scene-photo (for example the text on signs and billboards in a landscape photo) or from subtitle text superimposed on an image (for example from a television broadcast).

Automating OCR

In the first release of the Scan document Task you can scan unlimited documents of many types. Scanning is based on a sample document where you define areas that you want to scan. When the Task is running against a document the scanned areas will be available as Variables (temporary values). These Variables can then be used in other Tasks like SQL Task to be able to insert the data into a database.
