Hi - apologies up top if this is covered somewhere already but here goes...
Currently running VisualCron 8.3.5 (servers and desktop).

What version of server (and desktop) should I be looking at moving to next i.e. are there any major advantages/disadvantages to moving straight to latest version at present 8.5.5 (that I can use as selling point for upgrade) or best to play it safe and go to latest version of 8.4.2?

What are you guys doing?

It depends a little, if you don't want to upgrade too often, I do suggest that you wait until we release 9.0.0, which is a large update compared to previous ones, 9.0.0 is estimated within 2-4 weeks. The beta version of it is avalible on the beta section of the forums.

We do not want to upgrade that often (about once per year). We are also quite risk averse in terms of moving to the absolute latest release in case there are issues with our jobs that require patching. Does that change your suggestion at all?

I believe from what I am reading that if we were to move to 9.x on server then we could continue to run with 8.3.5 desktop client - is that the case plz?

If you move to 9.x on server, then you have to use 9.x client too. You always use the same / latest client version compatible with the server version anyway.

In terms of being risk averse - I completely understand that. What i'd recommend in your case is making a full backup of all settings on your current version, and copy the whole VisualCron installation folder somewhere else, maybe rename it to visualcron_backup or similar, then upgrade to 9.x, this way, in case of any unforseen unfortunate events occurring with the update, you can easily roll back to your previous version by just moving it back
