Good morning.

All of a sudden, the message above appears when I try to manually launch a task, or when the time comes for the task has arrived.

I could not find a section in the documentation that listed messages.
So, two issues:
1) what the message mean and how do I resolve it and
2) is there or could there be a place in the documentation for all messages.

I could not find the message in your search box either.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

We are running version 5.4.7 with protocol 5.1.3 and listening port 16444.

I had to restart the server on Saturday morning. Shortly after that,t he jobs (any job) started failing.

The scheduler launches the task on time or the task launched when a condition is met. I see the start box and end box on the desktop but the batchjob does not start.

Could it be a credentials problem? It says that the server is logged in so I'm not sure.

What two things are compared to each other that makes the failure message generate?

You did not answer what kind of Task it is?

Probably, you are using a Task that requires some kind of Connection like FTP, SQL or similar. It seems like that Connection, which the Task uses, is deleted. So, you need to re-create it and select it in the Task.

I don't understand what you mean by task.

The task starts a command (cmd) file that copies files from one computer to another.

No FTP or SQL is being used for this item.

It was set to launch at 6:06 AM every day.

I cloned a task that had not yet run (and failed), changed the batch job to something else and pressed "Test" and it too failed.

Would you please explain what the message itself means and what would generate the message?

The Task is the part of the Job that do something. If you copy files you might be using the Copy files Task. However, the Copy files Task does not use the Connection object. Please check the Task type by looking at the icon in the Job/Task main list (main window).

Or post a screen shot of the main window.

You may use an Email Task as well which uses Connections?

The task type is "Execute".
The encoding is utf-8.

Ok, if you are sure that it is that Task that gives that message it does not make any sense. Unless the error was about Credential. I think it might be another Task that gives this error.

Hmm.. I think I know what it is. You have set your Task for Foreground execution and you need the VisualCron Tray Client to be running in order to Execute as Foreground. Please start that Client from the start menu.

Then, most probable, you have some setting on the Foreground connection. Either the user (which could be a removed Credential) or something else. You can see the settings by opening the Execution context window from Task main settings.

You sir, are very smart!

The forground execution thing got me looking. Our IT department put the client on my personal desktop. The option was to execute on a speceific desktop.

I changed the setting to "Run on any desktop" and that was it!

I will take a while but I have to slowly change all "Failed" to the new setting and try one at a time.

Because all tasks should not be released at once, this will take time.

But if this is right, we are on the way.
