You said it worked the first time. How can you make it work again - do you run the console app from desktop? I mean, how do you reset the failing state?

If I run the console from the desktop it always work. After a reboot I must uncheck "Run in Hidden Window" to make it work from VC.

In your tests you were saying "after a server reboot the Task will not start":

1. can you run it any number of times (without failing) before restart
2. how can you make it work again (reset the failing state) so it works

Btw, we are testing on Windows 2008 x64 (not in VMWare though)

Yes

Uncheck "Run in Hidden Window" and it works. I can even check it again and it still works. Until i reboot the server!

Another thing. If you look at the service settings for VisualCron Windows service:

1. do you have "Interact with desktop checked"?
2. does it affect behavior if you have it checked or not checked? (switching between these)

Now it gets interesting!

1. do you have "Interact with desktop checked"?
Yes

2. does it affect behavior if you have it checked or not checked? (switching between these)
Yes

After i unchecked "Interact with desktop checked" and rebooted it didn't work. This was expected. Then I unchecked "Run in Hidden Window" and it still did not work! This was not expected. VC says Succes. I could only make it work when setting the Credentials to "No Credential"!

Ok, please keep the "interact with desktop" checked.

I think the problem is related to this hotfix which hopefully exists in Windows 2008: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960266

We have built an alternate version that you could test. Attaching.

Thanks. This fixed the problem. Works on server 2008 sp2.

Would you like to share what you changed?
When can this be released?

Stig

Normally, we execute methods for opening access to the desktop. Unless it is a hidden application, then there is no need for opening access to desktop.

I guess there is some kind of bug, either in Windows 2008 or VMWare or in the combination of those that requires this desktop to be opened.

We rather not call these methods when in hidden mode and we hope that there is a hotfix/windows update to fix this.

We will do some more research but the version you have now should be stable. I guess we will release next version in a two weeks but we need to research some more on this.

Thank you for your patience.
