I'm trying to connect to an FTP server and no matter what I do I get the error 'The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found.'

I know that the URL and user id/password are valid (I can connect through Filezilla). I've tried through a job and also through the FTP/SSH/Terminal Explorer. I've also tried different servers.

Any suggestions of what I should be looking for to see why it won't connect?

TIA.

Jeff.

I found the log files and found that the error is when it's trying to connect to the server. The actual message is:

12/3/2014 1:07:47 PM Err Unhandled FTP login error: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found

Can anybody give some insight as to what is wrong?

Thanks.

How do you write the ftp adress? It seems it may be an issue (see link). Also, is the connection configured to run in passive mode?

Based on what it said, I tried putting in the IP address. Now I'm getting 'Exception in Task: Unaccepted server reply (error code is 550)

And I know this server works and we aren't blocked from it.

Hello,

open the FTP task, browse in to the folder you want to upload or downlooad from. Copy the full path and use it in the task. Some FTP servers won't accept / because of fault FTP configuration (users "root" configured to location outside of users privileges).
